Belneftekhim announces PE and PP project in Belarus

Belneftekhim, the Belarus state-controlled petrochemical company, has announced plans to build new production capacity for polyethylene and polypropylene at its Polymir facility.
The company says the new capacities will be 150,000 tonnes per year for each polymer. The investment value of the project was not disclosed.
This project is one of 14 major projects planned for the Belarus petrochemical industry by the government and Belneftekhim during the 2011-2015 period.
According to Belneftekhim, building new PE and PP polymer capacity will allow Belarus to establish domestic production of PE and PP films, tubes, packing containers, and other products which are currently imported.
Established in 2000, Belneftekhim comprises over 60 organizations. It accounts for more than 30% of industrial production in Belarus and produces over 500 different petrochemical and chemical products. About 70% of its production is exported to more than 100 countries.
